Meet Jay Dorleus
Retired Special Forces First Sergeant. Leadership Instructor. Speaker. Executive Coach. Founder of Black Ops Leadership Group.
Two decades of leading when it mattered most
Jay Dorleus spent more than twenty years in Special Forces leading soldiers in high-pressure environments — selecting leaders, training them, and holding them to a standard where the cost of poor leadership was measured in more than missed targets. As a First Sergeant, his job was not only to lead but to build leaders: developing first-time supervisors into people others chose to follow.
That experience is the foundation of Black Ops Leadership Group. The problems Jay solved in uniform — unclear expectations, weak communication, broken trust, accountability gaps — are the same problems that hold organizations back today. His work translates hard-won leadership lessons into practical development for managers, executives, and teams.
Special Operations taught me principles that transfer to any high-performing team: clear expectations, disciplined communication, mutual trust, and continuous learning. My job is to help your organization adapt those principles to your environment.

Humility
The best leaders listen first, learn constantly, and put the mission before ego.
Accountability
Ownership of outcomes — for ourselves and the leaders we develop.

Every engagement ends with an after-action review. Better is always the goal.

Why organizations choose Black Ops Leadership Group
Practical experience over theory. Jay has led real teams through real pressure. What he teaches has been tested where it counts — not assembled from case studies.
Principles translated, not transplanted. Your workplace is not a military unit, and it should not run like one. We adapt proven leadership principles — clear expectations, disciplined communication, mutual trust, continuous learning — to your industry, your culture, and your people.
A structured, measurable approach. The five-phase Black Ops Leadership Framework moves from assessment to after-action review, so you can see where you started and how far you have come.
